Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry provides a safe and supportive community for our children.
Purpose & Mission
To teach skills for self discovery and to connect with the divine presence within, we empower our youth and their families to live a more fulfilling life.
About Us
Youth Church
This program is geared for children 3 years and older. (Children under 3 are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.) We begin each Sunday in the main center building to sing the opening/welcoming songs with the congregation. The youth then follow their teachers to the center’s office where both groups meet until they rejoin the congregation for the final song. Here’s an example of what happens during this time:
- Teacher begins with an Affirmative Prayer for the day
- The children read together from our “Attributes of God” board.
- In a circle, we share something that is going on in our lives using the “talking stick.”
- The message for the day is shared by the teacher.
- The message is followed by an activity which reinforces the ideas shared. Often, this is a craft activity, or we play a game or read a story. We have created “Gratitude Journals”, made collages of what we would like our world to be, and learned about the power of our thoughts and actions through planting seeds.
-Sometimes we do gentle stretching and yoga.
- We have a delightful eight acre property full of meadows and trails and often use nature as our teacher in learning the wonders of Spirit. On sunny days, you can expect us to take full advantage of these outdoor "lessons."
- The morning is completed by a “compliment circle” or “grateful potato” game.
Every week is a blessing for the teachers as they watch our youth grow in their strength and confidence as co-creators of life with the Divine presence within them.
Affirmative Prayer our youth learn:
God is all there is.
I am a unique expression of God.
I am here to learn something new, be a better person, and live a life of loving kindness.
I am grateful for myself and my friends.
I release this treatment, and so it is.
Tweens/Teens
This program is for middle school and high school youth. It is designed to help develop self confidence and assurance of who they are as not only people but as spiritual beings through discussions, meditations, and other activities.
